Correct footwear

Lifestyle plays an important role in choosing the right footwear that suits you, depending on if you are very active or working in an office will determine what you wear on your feet and what shoe is right for you. There are now many choices of footwear to choose from but how can you know which is right for you?

Choosing correct footwear for your preferred lifestyle

Maintaining foot comfort should be the top priority when choosing shoes, especially if the shoes are going to be worn majority of the day and be worn for exercise or other related activities. Shoes that fit your feet properly are essential, to avoid injuries such as heel blisters, or spraining an ankle.

Furthermore, it is important to consider different footwear for different activates such as hiking or running. This is important as different types of shoes give different types of support and are made for that specific activity, this will ensure optimal performance and minimal injury.

What to consider when trying to find shoes

  • Consider looking for shoes that hug the shape of your feet, and look out for different shoe brands as they all vary in shape and size.
  • Look for shoes with enough space for your toes, allowing your feet to grow and not forcing them at the front of your shoes
  • Look for comfortable shoes that have a stretchy material this will help with daily activity allowing your feet to move inside the shoe.
  • Make sure the back of the shoe isn’t too big because this can cause your heel to slip
  • Make sure you stand and walk around when trying on new shoes to ensure you like the fit.
  • Wear the same socks in store that you usually wear with shoes to make sure the shoe fits right.
  • Look for any irritation inside the shoe because this might affect the comfort
  • Look at the soles to see if they are firm enough, this may help with people who play sports.
  • Get both feet measured because they may have grown or changed shape, if one foot is bigger than the other make sure you get a size that fits the bigger one.

When to throw out and buy new footwear

Once the sole is worn out the shoe may feel uncomfortable and less supportive. It might also look like you’ve had them for a while so that’s how you know its time throw them out.
A good pair of shoes, depending on how much exercise you do can last up to 6-12 months. If the shoes have not been worn as much or there hasn’t been a lot of exercise or activity done in them they should last up to at least a year.
